How to order an HSRP number plate for your vehicle via SIAM
Not having an HSRP number plate even on older vehicles could attract fine in many states of the country.
The government of India amended a new type of vehicle number plate called the High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) to solve several issues related to the identification of vehicles a few years ago. These number plates will have special features such as a 3D hologram, reflective film with an inscription, which says ‘India,’ and a laser-etched serial number, which makes it tamper-proof.
Vehicles sold on or after July 2022 now come with HSRP-type number plates by default, several states like Karnataka have now made it mandatory for users to upgrade the number plates of older vehicles before February 17, 2024. Those who do not comply with the law will have to pay a fine of Rs 500 to Rs 1,000, depending on the vehicle type.
